Build-your-own-monster Halloween ESL Activity

When the school year kicked off, we began reviewing the parts of the body. In the classes I assist, we practiced learning the parts of the body with games like I Have, Who Has?, Simon Says and Telephone. We had also been practicing pronunciation through the classic song, Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.

My favorite activity I supplied for this unit was Build your own Monster! This activity was especially fun because Halloween was the following week. Many students illustrated their monster to appear like their halloween costume, or favorite character. There were many Spidermen and minions! This worksheet allowed the kids to use their creativity and explore their interests while reviewing English words.

The activity began with reviewing the parts of the body, then I would announce a number for each body part. For example, the monster has two legs. The children would then write the number, the name, and draw two legs for their monster!

Each child had a very different, creative output!
